We are thrilled to have been selected by Theo Paphitis to be a winner of Small Business Sunday - an award given out on Twitter. We entered on 22/12 and on Monday night we were shopping in Tesco to do our Christmas food shop when I noticed lots of notifcations to do with Twitter so I looked and we'd been retweeted by Theo because we'd be selected as one of the 6 winners. I shouted to Dave.... "we've won" and definately made the shopping trip more exciting haha.
What is it?
Small Business Sunday or #SBS as it's known on twitter is a club created by Theo Paphitis for small businesses like us who can receive support to grow our business in the form of guidance, networking and promotion to his 500,00 followers on Twitter.
Each year Theo along with sponsors hold a networking event and we have been invited to attend in February to meet Theo and accept our certificate for winning.
From winning a week ago we've also seen increased followers/retweets on Twitter as well as increased interest on our Etsy shop.
Small business champion and Ryman Stationery, Robert Dyas and Boux Avenue Chairman, Theo Paphitis, said: “We are thrilled to welcome new #SBS members every week and highlight just how important it is to support our small businesses here in the UK. My vision is that everyone who has ever won an #SBS re-tweet from me becomes part of a friendly club; like-minded individuals who can share successes and learnings. The website will also give a valuable profile to the winners chosen.
How can you win?
Anyone looking for a re‐tweet from Theo should tweet him about their business on Sunday between 5 PM and 7.30 PM and include the hashtag #SBS. Six lucky businesses are re‐tweeted every Monday at 8 PM and then invited to enter their profile on the new website, attend the annual #SBS networking event and take advantage of the networking opportunities.
